The test of time...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Life is a series of ups and downs, and that's a fact, for we're reminded of our inconsistencies (up and down) seemingly moment-by-moment, day-by-day. If only we could learn from our mistakes and apply those lessons learned in real time to our future, as John Mellenkamp so eloquently wrote and sang, "Wish I could see the future, the same way I see the past; Wish I could draw a conclusion, why nothing here seems to last." It's the last part of this lyric that we all need to do better at in this life, to focus on centering our lives on things eternal, things meant to last the test of time. For in this life we're constantly forced to deal with the temporary nature of this present world, and it's an extremely frustrating process for all. Perhaps this is how you get our attention, to find meaning and purpose as we transition from the fleeting thoughts of today to the everlasting thoughts of 10,000 years from now. Jesus said, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21) ...Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
