Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... I have witnessed a tendency in this life; too many too often lead with condemnation even though we have all been challenged to be merciful to those needing mercy. For sure, mercy was never intended to condone sinful behavior, far from it, but it does mean that the world needs less judgment and more compassionately driven actions; examples of doing the right thing at the right time. "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. For he who said, 'Do not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." (James 2:10-13) In a court of law would we all be guilty of sin, and as such surely be sentenced to pay the price set for such indiscretions? Absolutely, for all have sinned and fall far short of your glory, O Lord. Knowing this, may we lead with mercy with those most likely deserving judgment, but understanding that it's not our job to judge, but rather, to lead them to Jesus Christ, the very one who has shown mercy to me in my own life, and in the lives of all sinners who have been baptized for the forgiveness of their sins… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
