Treasures in heaven...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Your faithful servants are GREAT examples to us! We all LOVE a good "rescue story," times when, against all odds, you rescued your servants from certain death. But how can we possibly make sense of those who were not rescued from certain death? It's difficult for us to understand these seemingly contrasting to the nth degree comparisons. The only way we can possibly make peace is to pray for a deep trust and the courage required to make a difference in the face of extreme adversity. Martyred missionary Jim Elliott once stated, "He is no fool who gives away what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." Doesn't it all boil down to such a faith as this? To know we have treasures in heaven, for Jesus said, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21) Promises everlasting, a place where true love will NEVER die… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
