Spiritual ways leading to life...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... There are some extremely difficult teaching for us to grasp, as you know, O Lord. Not the least of which is the following; Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you." (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭38‬-‭42‬) ‬‬ To put it bluntly, that's a lot easier to read than it is to put into practice! We think we understand fairness, but our understanding is in earthly terms, that is, physical ways, and as such, far from the spiritual realm of understanding. The spirit is different, the spirit is giving, the spirit is expecting nothing in return for our good works, and at the end of the day, the spirit is all about following in the footsteps of Jesus. Lord, lead us to your ways, to your teachings of love and grace and kindness and mercy… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
