Go figure...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Why do people feel the need to "one up" one another? We see it all the time; what is it about the human condition that people get something out of trumping others with their self-proclaimed superior existence? Why can't we just enjoy hearing someone else tell of an exploit of something really special to them without trying to top that experience with one of our own? People don't wanna hear how their own experience is inferior to another's experience, they just want to hear that you are complementary of how special life has been for them. Until we understand this, no one is going to want to carry on a conversation with us. Why is this important? Because until we care enough to listen, no one will be able to share THE most powerful story ever told, the story of redemption in Christ Jesus. For "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20) Yes, someone will even try to one-up the best story ever told...go figure… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
