Can't get enough...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... What does wealth do to the spiritual mindset? One thing it will NEVER do is to help us grow in spiritual ways, for wealth has one objective and one objective only, to pursue MORE wealth. John Mellenkamp wrote and sang, "Can't get enough, no, of nothing. I've got seven of everything and more in the till but I ain't ever satisfied. You think this is dangerous stuff, it ain't even a thrill, I ain't ever satisfied. Oh, I am never...No, I am never...I don't know why I ain't ever satisfied." There you go, that's the absolute truth of wealth and STUFF in this life. We get something, and boom, we want more and more and more. The warning is clear and true, and cannot be misinterpreted when Jesus proclaimed, "Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:23-24) So I know the term "rich" is a relative term, but my thinking here is that Jesus knows our hearts, such that when we believe we are rich in this world relative to another, this is the very moment we drift away from Him… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that YOU are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
