The path of least resistance...
Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... I've heard it numerous times in my life from others, in fact I've fallen into its trap more often than I'd like to admit. When it comes to Biblical concepts, we have a tendency to pursue the path of least resistance. If it's baptism, the masses like to say that surely God understands OUR position on the topic as they ignore what the Bible actually teaches; "God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him." (1 Peter 3:20-22) Yes Lord, you have given each of us a mind to logically reason and to come to an understanding of biblical concepts, but my prayer is that my understanding is directly derived from studying and then applying YOUR words of truth and not my own humanistically derived variations… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
