The love of money...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... It's a subtle differentiation, but most people don't quite get it right when trying to reference the Bible relative to money. As Pink Floyd misquoted in their song Money when they wrote and sang, "Money, so they say, is the root of all evil today." Almost right, but not quite; "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." (1 Timothy 6:10) Not money necessarily, but definitely, the LOVE of money! It's a reality in our present-day society, we all need money to survive, but how much do we really need? That is the question of all questions. For when we begin to love money, it's extremely difficult to break away from its bond of addiction; almost impossible for those who have tasted its nearly irresistible enticement. Jesus warned of its power when He said, "Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:23-24) Whatever we do, whatever wealth we gain, we cannot let money entice us to wander away from the faith; for what good is that money once we pass from this life to the next… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
