Head on a swivel...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Lord, you know me, so you know how much I love it when things like sports effectively parallel life. Love it because it simplifies life enough for me to possibly comprehend. In football, especially, there's a phrase that emphasizes the necessity of keeping one's head up while actively scanning all angles of the field of play. Keeping your "‭Head on a Swivel" becomes a saying that makes perfect sense to a football player that has been knocked senseless by NOT paying attention to the things that matter the most. In life, we have to be aware of our environment in order to keep safe by making logical decisions for the good of the many, and when it comes to our spiritual welfare, we must identify our adversary else we're destined to suffer the consequences. "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." (1 Peter 5:8-10) Thank you Lord for protecting us and enabling us to resist the devil via our faith in all things good and perfect and holy… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
