Doing the right thing...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Nobody likes to admit it, especially in small towns where one thinks one can trust everyone, but there's a con artist lurking around every corner. Someone doing their very best to dupe us into thinking they are sincerely in need of something we just happen to be able to provide. It's burdensome because their requests prey on our willingness to please, wanting to assist, desiring to share in our life's abundant resources. I'm reminded of Peter and John one day at the temple; "Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, 'Look at us.' And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, 'I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!'" (Acts 3:1-6) We need to do all we can do; we need to do the right thing, and the right thing is always inseparably connected with leading others to Jesus Christ! Lord, lead us to the right actions in this life, those things magnifying your greatness in a world full of deceit… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
