Doing the right thing...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... Stepping up and doing the right thing is never easy, nor should it be, as we consider life and the challenges it throws at us on a daily basis. It's always easier to take the path of least resistance, doing what seems to come naturally. But therein lies the problem, too many have accepted "what seems natural" rather than considering your will for our individual lives. Pursuing the spiritual side of life is always exponentially more difficult than passively following in the footsteps of those roundabout us. The easiest way for us to understand that we are "called to be different" is to listen to the teachings of Jesus relative to our daily interactions with those demanding unreasonable actions from us; Jesus said, "I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you." (Matthew 5:39-42) "Seriously Jesus" I'm tempted to say, but yes, I understand and KNOW that I need to step up and do the right thing every moment of every day… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
