A victim's mentality...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... There's an approach to life that's hard for me to swallow, often it's referred to as having a "victim's mentality." Always blaming others, or feeling like life is always unfair to them, or believing they have little or no control over outcomes. It basically boils down to those types of people not wanting to take ownership for anything that just might not turn out the way they expected. In fact, they expect negative results more often than not, but then quickly seek sympathy for something that OBVIOUSLY wasn't their fault. I think thoughts like, what if Jesus had a victim's mentality? If anyone deserved such a status, it would be Him! But He, in no way, shape, or form ever tried to pawn off His responsibilities onto someone else. Peter wrote concerning His willingness to suffer on our behalf; "He (Jesus) himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24) Anyone else with the power to do so, would have immediately demanded a fair trial, leading to an outcome that was void of suffering, but Jesus took on that monumental task and gave it ALL to the very end, all so that we might live… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
