Do you love me...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... The resurrected Jesus was challenging His disciple/His apostle Peter, the very one who had denied Jesus three times just a few days before. The challenge involved growing from a brotherly love to a point of attaining a kind of love that would sacrifice anything, ANYTHING for the benefit of the kingdom, including Peters's own life! "When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.” (John‬ ‭21‬:‭15‬-‭17‬) The emphasis here is on the difficulty of following through with our commitments, especially after we have failed miserably. We may be critical of Peter, but we should never throw the first stone, lest it comes back to haunt us… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
