Classic Matchup: Want vs Need...

Father, your creation declares your greatness and lovingkindness, encouraging statements of pure truth in our daily walk... The Rolling Stones hit the nail on the head when they sang, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well, find sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need." How different this world be if all peoples could comprehend the difference between WANT and NEED! If I had to guess, I'm thinking Wants exponentially exceed Needs in this life, and that most people don't even realize the difference. In a land of extreme excess, we think we need this or that because it's simply what we expect to get regardless of whether we need it or not. We want because we're anxious about surviving without getting what we THINK we need, but Jesus said, "Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ...But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matthew 6:25, 33-34) Lord, it's comforting to know that YOU know what we need so much more than we could ever know, AND that you provide knowing we've got enough trouble to deal with as it is, and by doing so, removing our anxiety about tomorrow… Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that you are the way, the truth, and the life; THE answer for those committed to seeking the truth in all things!
